World Smokefree May leads up to World Smokefree Day on 31 May, also known internationally as World No Tobacco Day, observed globally each year on 31 May.
In Aotearoa, it supports awareness of the Smokefree kaupapa, encourages quit attempts, and promotes consistent national messaging on tobacco control and related health promotion activity. Te Tiratū Iwi Māori Partnership Board believes it’s an important moment to reflect on the ongoing impacts of tobacco and nicotine on whānau wellbeing and equity across the Waikato rohe.
